Ciblé par une flopée de formations européennes, l’ancien joueur de Villarreal aurait choisi de rejoindre les Citizens, mais l’affaire ne serait pas bouclée pour autant. Alors que la formation managée par Josep Guardiola aurait accepté de s’aligner sur le montant de sa clause libératoire (70 M€), les négociations salariales auraient été lancées avec le numéro 14 des Colchoneros (qui devrait être remplacé par Marco Llorente du Real Madrid). En cas d’échec des discussions, le protégé de Diego Simeone pourrait se rabattre sur le Bayern Munich qui resterait dans la course, selon The Guardian.
